The first grade kingdom…

Queens for a day…

Today Brooke Collins brought in her 3 baby ducklings and one little chick. She also brought in an incubator with lots of eggs inside! By the end of the day there were FOUR baby ducklings! We got to pet them and watch the baby duckling hatch. So exciting! Check out our pictures from today…
On February 2 (Groundhog’s Day!), Mr. Bernstein visited us in first grade! We thought it was really cool to meet the real channel 9 weather man. He even told us we might have a delay on Wednesday, February 4th! And he was right!! Check out our pictures from that fun day:
There is a famous first grade actress at KES! Megan Peery will be making her theater debut in Robin Hood at the Weinberg Center this weekend as one of the skunks of Sherwood Forrest! There are performances at 3:00 pm and 5:30 pm on Saturday. Tickets are $6 per child and $10 per adult. More information can be found at this website: http://www.weinbergcenter.org/performanceDetail.asp?performanceID=290
On December 23rd the students changed into their pajamas, waited outside in the hallway while Mrs. Halvis read to them, and then boarded the Polar Express in their classroom with their very own punched ticket! It was just like a real train… Did I mention we got to eat an endless amount of cookies, rice crispy treats, and candy? What a great reading incentive this was!

Today Austin’s mom, Mrs. McMahon, came in and talked about the traditions of Hanukkah. She taught us how to play the dreidle game, and even gave us all our own driedles and gelt!

We all had a great time on our field trip to Frederick Memorial Hospital in November.
